Yonex Dutch Junior International 2022 cancelled, 16-01-2022
The recent press conference by the Dutch government, in which regulations and restrictions for the coming weeks were announced, combined with rising COVID-cases and uncertainties regarding the Omicron-variant, have led us to decide to cancel the Yonex Dutch Junior International 2022.
After much debate and weighing all the relevant pros and cons, we had to decide that the uncertainties surrounding the tournament are too big. Uncertainties regarding the behaviour of the virus, uncertainty about future restrictions ordered by the government, uncertainty about whether or not we can provide the level of quality we strive for as organizers.
At the Yonex Dutch Junior International we aim high. Our competitors and spectators may expect that from us, as we are one of the leading youth tournaments in the world. If we were to encounter difficulties, an outbreak, or other problems that would cause officials, participants or members of our committee to drop out, this would greatly effect everybody involved.
The health and happiness of everybody that takes part in our wonderful tournament always have our priority. Both are at risk in the current situation. We are very sorry we have to draw this conclusion, but we guarantee we will be back next year, with complete commitment and renewed energy, to work towards the 2023-edition.
Stay safe and healthy, look for joy in what you do, and we will see each other in 2023.
